Truck Fire is a Reminder to Properly Segregate Chemicals

A claim reported this month is a dramatic reminder that pool chemicals should be properly segregated in the pickup truck bed.  A plastic scoop that was used for cal-hypo apparently came into contact with other chemicals in the back of the pool service truck and caught fire.  The truck bed was damaged and the pool tech received a bill over $4000 payable from the fire department for the hazardous materials clean up.  Fortunately, the swimming pool tech was properly insured, including coverage for the Haz-Mat Clean-Up expenses. The two lessons to be learned are (1) keep chemicals well separated, and (2) carry the right insurance coverage from an industry specialist.
